California’s Sonoma Valley, also known as Valley of the Moon, is situated between the Mayacamas Mountains (which separate it from the napa valley to the east) and the Sonoma Mountain range on the west.
The Sonoma Valley area includes the most notable towns of Kenwood, Glen Ellen, and Sonoma.
Cornerstone Place in Sonoma is a collection of art galleries, specialty retail shops, wine tasting, and food.
When doing a sonoma wine tour you will get to visit less crowded boutique style wineries. These smaller wineries will provide you with a more personal one on one experience.
The wineries in Alexander Valley and Russian River in the northern region are even less corporate, more homey and some even offer free tastings.
In some cases you may be fortunate to run into a free outdoor picnic with lots of free food. (versus Napa which you always have to pay for).
